It's a Sad Farewell

Bye bye to Fernando, a fine friend and "Sad fan", who is returning to New York in a couple of days. Thanks a lot for videoing our concert. I know we and many others will miss you. (and yes, this photo was taken in prison)

The Average Sad

The average "Sad" is a male, approximately 182cm tall, weighing 80kg, and wears almost a whole pair of glasses. He has short brownish hair, with no definite styling of any kind, and has a varying degree of facial hair (illustrative photo only). He is, of course, extremely funny and witty (IQ around 130), mainly dressed extremely tastefully, and can play at least 2 different musical instruments (not always at the same time). He mainly enjoys to have a beer with his friends or watching films. He is in a committed relationship, and is generally an all round great guy. He has lived in Prague for many years but originates from somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean (see map).................

The Sad Alternative Mixes: "Paris Blues"

This is a dirty version of "Paris Blues" that I did a long time ago. It's not really finished but what is?.

The Sad Live Audio Clip

Ok, so, after deciding that our audio recording from Bordo was generally pretty poor, I have decided not to post any of the songs. Instead this is the audio of Steve introducing our last song. Pointless? Yes, but it gives me something to do.
14 Track 14 - Twango
Oh and the picture on the right is "The Sads", apparently. I certainly feel like that cat right now

The Sad Podcaster

A few months ago our song "She'll Grow Back" was posted on a Podcast called something like "In My Room". This is an audio clip of him talking about MySpace and The Sads after he had just played the song. Anyway, I think its worth listening to. It amuses me every time. Enjoy.

IT'S A SAD FACT!!!! No.1: Steve's Special Power

Steve was a very naughty child....oh yes he was.....and caused many a mishap around the Canadian homestead. As he grew older he would experiment on his poor little kittens, feeding them strange cocktails of prescription drugs.

However one day, the worst happened, and they began to ruthlessly attack him (both physically and emotionally).

But all was not lost....oh no....because, although he spent many years in a hospital receiving psychiatric treatment, he emerged a new man.....oh yes he did.

He discovered that in the brutal attack he had gained the ability to lift his left leg over his head and lick....yes lick....his own crotch.

Now next time you see us play......pay attention......because in between every song you can see Steve do this very thing. (photo not available due to copyright infringement)

God bless Steve

Upcoming Show; November 2nd at Popocafepetl

Our biggest and best: Bordo 17/10/06

So this is our flyer/poster for the concert, designed by Nick himself, and hurriedly printed and distributed by us all, around various areas of Prague....although the posters I put up around Zizkov were almost instantly covered over by election posters, and adverts for the circus. This could be described as a little demoralising, but the promotion, including friend harassment, paid off.

This is us playing that night, in front of a pretty packed house, around 110 (as a generous guess). It was the first
time that all four of us have played together, and we had a sound engineer (Colin), which made all the difference. To everyone who was there, thanks for coming, the crowd was great, and you made it the most enjoyable night of my year.

And here is a tiny video

The Sads.............prequel

The Origin of the Sads

Once upon a time there was a little Canadian man called Steve Rusling. He would spend hours in front of the mirror strumming his little guitar, singing, whilst woodland creatures relaxed all around in a haze of dreamy contentment. Oh, how he enjoyed those peaceful moments, just him, nature, and a bag of porn. But one day, a particularly peaceful day, the Steve felt a sudden chill in the air.
And without warning a giant American called James Babson burst through the front door.

"What do you want?" whimpered the Steve, whilst collapsing in a heap in the floor.
"I want to join you!!!" roared the James, "with your talent and my stage presence, we will be unstoppable in the world of rock!!!"
In a fit of panic the Steve fainted, and was to awake 3 days later. And when he did, he found himself in a dark basement, still wearing his soiled clothes. There, in the frosty air, sitting next to him, was the giant. "Sing!! Play!!!, Perform!!!" shouted the James, "and I will sing too!!".
Reluctantly the little Canadian began to strum.

And then he sang

and then the James sang

and gradually pure light began to fall into the basement from above.

For it was sweet music that sprang from their souls.

Then a figure appeared, a man, not of this world.
A man who had been summoned from a long time away, a golden time, a time where there was no time.

He spoke softly and directly.
"I am the Ryan"
"From this day forward you shall be called "The Sads""
"Don't ask me why, I know its a pretty dodgy name, but it will be so"

And that was how it all started

It was some time later that Matt joined the band, and then James left and then Nick and Mark joined.
